About Henry

Sweetheart Henry is sadly seeking a new forever home. Henry arrived in the UK in 2020 after being found as a stray in Cyprus. He’s thought to be a Labrador/Pointer mix and he’s a senior soul, although we can’t be certain of his age the vets estimate he’s around ten, but age is just a number to Henry and he is absolutely not slowing down anytime soon.

Henry is being rehomed due to a change of family circumstances and arrival of young children which means they don’t have the time to give him the attention he both deserves and needs. Because of this, Henry has become bored and started making his own fun: digging in the flowerbeds, stealing food, raiding the bins. He’s not a bad dog, but he needs more attention than he’s currently receiving, which is causing his mischief.

Henry is described as the most loving dog ever. He is incredibly affectionate and just wants to give and receive love all day every day. At home he is generally well behaved, calm and relaxed, and enjoys snuggling up on the sofa. He has a brilliant temperament and is great with dogs and humans alike, including babies. He has never been anything other than gentle towards everyone he’s met and loves to make new friends.

Henry lives alongside another resident dog and has no issues sharing his space. When out and about he loves socialising with other pups and is always friendly towards them, attempting to instigate play. He does not like cats however, and displays a prey drive around them and therefore could not live with them. Henry also has hit and miss recall, which is not unexpected considering his breed type. He loves following his nose but his family have worked with a trainer to improve his recall and have noticed good progress, so if time was put into this with his new family we would expect to see further results. A long line would also allow Henry more freedom but with the security of knowing he couldn’t sprint off after an interesting smell.

Henry loves going for walks and gets super excited to go outside. He’s joyful and enthusiastic about being outdoors and would welcome a moderately active lifestyle. He would also benefit from a home with a little garden to potter about in. Although he has no interest in playing with dog toys (this is common in older rescue dogs who’ve never had them until later in life) he loves treats and will do anything for a biscuit. He can also be naughty if food is left out, so worktops shouldn’t be left busy as temptation will get the better of Henry!

Henry is looking for a home where he is the apple of someone’s eye. He is remarkably adaptable and could settle into most environments given time and patience, but the most important thing is that he has company and attention. He wouldn’t want to be left alone for extended periods of time, and would be happy tagging along with someone wherever they went. He’s a fantastic companion and ever so loyal - someone would be very lucky to have him in their family.

Henry has a clean bill of health and is currently based in North Yeovil, Somerset. He is ready to meet his new family, ss if you’d like to meet him please get in touch!

Please note, any mention of breed is nothing more than an educated guess based on what we know about the dog, their appearance, behaviour, and common breeds in their country of origin. We can never guarantee breed specifics, nor can we confirm the exact age of our dogs, unless they were born in our care. Age estimations are made by our vets based on the development of the dog, their general health and energy, and assessing their teeth.
