About Anya

Anya arrived in the council pound after being found as a stray on the streets of Cyprus. The poor girl was absolutely terrified when she arrived, and would sit in the corner of her kennel shaking with fear. She would allow people to touch her, but wouldn’t look at them and would continue to tremble despite their kindness.

Fast forward a couple of months and Anya is a different dog. Sadly, she’s not yet found her forever home but she’s far more confident and adaptable than she was upon arrival. Anya now loves meeting new people and is super friendly, excitable and playful. Her ears are one of her best features and they have a complete mind of their own. Sometimes they can make her look so regal and smart, other times they do a great job of showing her goofy, playful side.

Anya is a Malinois mix and true to her breed traits, she requires an active home with a family who have a desire to train a dog. She is extremely friendly, sociable and keen to please, and we think that she would pick up new things really quickly. She responds well to positive reinforcement and kind tone, and will need plenty of mental and physical stimulation in her forever home to keep her mind busy and occupied. Malinois make incredibly loyal companions in the right home, but not without effort.

Anya has had no routine exercise since being dumped in the pound and therefore needs a home with a family who love being outdoors and recognise her need to run, explore and scent. She would love a semi-rural home, surrounded by green spots to investigate. She would also be best suited to a home with a garden, and ideally someone who has experience with energetic dogs in the past, as Malis are not ideal for first time dog owners. Anya has been good with the other pound dogs, and could likely live with another resident dog, but is also confident enough to be homed without other pups. She is not suitable for a home with cats, and taking into consideration her energy levels and expected size, we think she would be best homed with children aged 12+.

Anya is currently based in Cyprus and has a clean bill of health. She is ready to travel once she finds her forever home.

Please note, any mention of breed is nothing more than an educated guess based on what we know about the dog, their appearance, behaviour, and common breeds in their country of origin. We can never guarantee breed specifics, nor can we confirm the exact age of our dogs, unless they were born in our care. Age estimations are made by our vets based on the development of the dog, their general health and energy, and assessing their teeth.
