About Bella
Bella is a lovely young dog, estimated to be around 18 months old, who has already overcome a lot of hardship in her short life. She was found on the streets, emaciated and desperately searching for food, and was brought into the safety of the pound. Understandably, she arrived frightened and focused solely on survival, anxiously seeking out anything to eat. It was clear that hunger and uncertainty had defined much of her early experience and she’d not been treated with the care and love a dog deserves.
Once Bella realised that she was safe and would be fed regularly, she really started to warm to us. With the consistency of a daily routine and the kindness of the shelter volunteers, she slowly started to relax. Her confidence has grown steadily, and with those she sees regularly and trusts, she has revealed a gentle, affectionate and truly endearing personality. Bella is sweet-natured, calm and loves nothing more than a cuddle once she feels comfortable with you.
Bella is still shy around unfamiliar people and will need time and patience to form bonds with new faces. However, her willingness to trust is growing by the day, and in the right environment she will undoubtedly continue to blossom. She walks beautifully on the lead and enjoys calm walks in quiet areas where she can take in her surroundings without feeling overwhelmed. She is still nervous around traffic, particularly large or noisy vehicles, so a home in a calm location away from lots of busy roads would be ideal.
She is friendly with other dogs and could happily live with a resident dog, especially one who is calm and confident, as this would likely help her continue building her own confidence. So far, she’s shown no interest in cats, and we think she would suit a home with children aged ten or older, as a busier or louder household with younger children may be too much for her at this stage.
A secure garden where she can relax and potter about would be a lovely addition for her, and most importantly, she needs a home where she will be given the time, patience and understanding she deserves. Bella has made impressive progress in such a short amount of time, and we are confident that with the support of a kind adopter, she will continue to grow into a happy, trusting and loyal companion. She has the sweetest heart, and if you are willing to let her emerge from her shell in her own time, Bella could be the perfect addition to your home.
