About Ally

Poor Ally came into the shelter over a year ago after being rescued running scared in the roads. She was so sad in the shelter when she first arrived and would sit by the kennel bars and cry for hours. We think she has previously had a family and was desperate for them to come and get her, but of course that never happened, and months later she’s still without a home to call her own.

Ally is a lovely dog who through no fault of her own has just been overlooked time and time again. By nature she’s an active, intelligent and very loyal girl. She’s eager to please and is so bored in the shelter, so she would thrive in an active home with someone who wants to explore with the company of a canine best friend. Shepherds have great stamina, so long hikes and camping holidays will be no problem for a dog like Ally - she’d love it! She’d also love any kind of training, as she loves to please and learning new things is great fun for intelligent breeds like herself.

Ally shares her kennel with another dog and although she seems to enjoy his company, it’s clear that humans are her first love. She is content around other dogs, happily to walking alongside them when outside the shelter and sharing her space with them, but we feel she would be fine either with or without a resident dog to live with.

Ally’s ideal home would have a garden where she can let off some steam and stretch her legs, but even if her garden is small as long as she’s based outside of the city surrounded by plenty of places to explore, she’ll be happy. We have no doubt that she will be so loyal to her new family, but she may have some separation anxiety to overcome due to her abandonment based on her behaviour in the shelter. With patience, reassurance, routine and consistency this is something that can be overcome, and who can blame her for feeling worried after experiencing being dumped before?

Ally would love a family home where she can experience the security of feeling loved, wanted, and a sense of belonging. She has a soft heart and although her abandonment should have broken her trust in people, she’s been nothing but forgiving and resilient. We would love for her to find the family she’s been waiting so long for.
