About Taffy
Taffy was brought into the shelter by the dog wandering after she was found wandering through the fields as a stray. She wasn’t difficult to catch as she was more than happy to see new humans and trot over to them! She’s now very patiently waiting for her second chance, hoping that her new family are out there.
Taffy is estimated to be around a year old and as appears to be a theme with our shepherd girls, she’s so clever. The boys aren’t quite at their level just yet! Taffy is very smart and similarly to Birdie, who came in a few weeks before her, she also new some basic commands which suggests she’s had a home, or at least positive human interaction (maybe from a farm owner or outside an army base) from someone.
Taffy now shares her kennels with another dog and although she was initially a bit disgruntled about having to share her space with a male dog, they’ve since really started to get along. She will grumble at him a bit if he’s invading her space or jumping on her too much, but between them they seem to have sussed out their new friendship and are getting on just fine. Taffy could definitely live alongside a resident dog in her new home, but she’s a confident girl and doesn’t seek out their company.
Being a shepherd, Taffy is not only smart but she’s also fiercely loyal and very active. She would thrive in a home where she has access to a secure garden to run around in and sunbathe, and she would also be best suited to a family who enjoy an energetic lifestyle. Getting the opportunity to explore would be perfect for Taffy, and she’ll be a great partner in crime on an adventure or a long hike.
She is still getting used to lead training, but thanks to the volunteer visits at the weekend she’s getting more familiar and confident. She loves being outside, watching the birds, rolling about in the grass and sniffing about in the dirt. But, when she’s had her fun outdoors she is more than happy to chill out in her kennel, and she loves inching herself closer and closer to you until she’s finally resting in your lap. She has the mindset of a small dog and is definitely not aware of her size!
Taffy is a really good girl and we would love to see her shine in a new home where she has the focus, commitment and love she’s due. She is a wonderful character and will only continue to blossom.
