About Gina
Gina’s litter, aka the G pups, arrived at the shelter in June after they were all found living together as strays without their mum. They were terrified to begin with and spent a lot of time huddled together in their kennel, completely overwhelmed and frightened. After a few days they gradually started to get a bit braver, and now they’re ready for adoption.
Gina is very confident among the group and can be a bit bossy with her siblings! She is a girl who knows what she wants, and sometimes that is the limelight! She is always very eager to say hello to passing visitors that walk by her kennel, and she loves any opportunity to be be cuddled or played with. She also loves chasing after a toy, a pebble or a stick - it doesn’t matter what it is, she can make a game out of anything!
Gina isn’t familiar with the lead just yet, but she’s starting to learn that it’s a positive thing now. She is super excitable and bouncy when she gets the chance to interact with people, and she bonds fiercely with those that she loves. She is definitely going to be a very loyal companion, we have no doubt about that.
Gina is good with other dogs and on the most part she gets along well with her siblings, but she needs a bit of work on sharing. She could definitely live alongside a resident dog, and an older, calmer dog would be a great influence on her. However, we also think she is confident enough to be the only dog in the household.
The ideal home for Gina would be a loving family home that are looking for a young dog to raise outside of the city. She would prefer a home with access to a garden, and this will also help with house training. As she grows into an adult dog, she will be looking for a moderately active lifestyle, and of course being a puppy she will both enjoy and benefit from some introductory training.
At just four months old the G pups are still very much learning each and every day. There are lots of different personalities within their litter, but they’re all growing and changing at their own pace. Each of them will need patient, understanding families who recognise that adapting to a companion lifestyle will be a very new concept for all of them, as they’ve never lived in a home before. And as with any puppies, they will need continued socialisation, training, and plenty of company.
Gina has had some initial exposure to children and we think she would be great for a family with school age children. She can be a bit nippy in her play, but that is purely to do with her age. She is still a puppy, so it’s important that there are boundaries in place if she’s living alongside kids, for both parties! Given the opportunity, we know Gina is going to grow up into a lovely young dog with a great personality and nothing but devotion for her new family.
