About Frodo
Sam and Frodo came to the shelter after they were found wandering in a little pack. There were four of them in total, and it was very obvious that the boys were brothers right away. They are the cutest duo and both of them are more than ready to find their new homes.
Frodo is the smaller brother. He initially arrived with an eye infection and an abscess, and was feeling quite sorry for himself. His eyes are now fine, but we’re still treating the access, but he’ll be ready to travel once it’s all cleared up. Although not quite as forthright as his brother, Frodo is still a quietly confident little boy and enjoys the company of people. He is always close behind Sam, tail wagging and eager to make friends. He also really loves to sit beside you and enjoy a head massage and an ear rub.
Because Sam is always front and centre, Frodo often follows his lead and sometimes doesn’t get quite as much attention because he’s happy to stay in the background. When he does get his moment to shine, he absolutely loves it. His whole bum wiggles when he wags his tail and he just has the sweetest little face. He responds so well to kindness.
At just over a year old, Frodo will remain small in size and would be ideal for someone looking for a little dog that’s easy to handle. He has no issues being picked up when needed, and once he’s formed a strong bond with his new family we imagine that he will be really well behaved and eager to please.
Frodo has no issues with other dogs and shares his kennel with his brother and a female dog at present. He shares his bed kindly, and loves snuggling up with them at night. He also knows to take turns when it comes to food, and he doesn’t show any signs of resource guarding or jealousy. He would maybe struggle a little more in a very busy home with a lot of noise, but with a little time and a more predictable routine we think Frodo will settle into a companion lifestyle just fine.
Frodo’s ideal home would be with someone who was around frequently, as he wouldn’t enjoy being left alone for long periods of time. He’d be very happy in the company of another dog as he enjoys being around them, and they do seem to boost his confidence a bit. But, in the right home he could also be the only resident dog. Frodo can also live in a home with children as he’s very sweet, gentle and polite.
We know that this little guy is going to really come out of his shell given the opportunity and will make such a gorgeous little companion.
