About Bozo

Bozo is a gentle and steady soul who has been waiting for over two years for his second chance. Estimated to be around five to six years old, Bozo was found lying quietly by the side of a road in Bosnia, looking for all the world like he had given up. Thankfully, a volunteer stopped to check on him, assuming he’d been hit by a car, but actually he was just lying there, defeated. As soon as he was spoken to and petted, his eyes lit up. The volunteer left him some food and then set off back to the car. Without hesitation, Bozo followed him, and as he started the engine to leave he noticed in the rearview mirror that Bozo was still looking after him. There was no way he could leave him behind after that.

Since then, Bozo has been living in the shelter, where he has quietly become a favourite among the volunteers. Calm, good natured and very patient, Bozo doesn’t demand attention but loves nothing more than a gentle fuss when it's offered. He walks beautifully on the lead and waits patiently for his harness to be put on. His walks are the highlight of his week and he loves to go out, sniff about in the grass and interact with the volunteers. Sadly, shelter life means he only gets an hour out of his kennel each Saturday, and it’s clear he would thrive with much more freedom and companionship.

Bozo is friendly with other dogs but not particularly playful; he tends to keep to himself, peacefully coexisting without trouble. Puppies and younger dogs often bounce around him during walks, and he will just step aside, preferring a quieter pace. He could live happily alongside another calm dog, but he would be just as content being the only dog in a home where he gets the attention and routine he enjoys.

Bozo could live with older children who understand how to interact respectfully with a larger dog. He has not been tested with cats yet.

Given his gentle nature and preference for calm surroundings, Bozo would be best suited to a countryside or semi-rural home, away from the noise and bustle of a busy city. A home with a secure garden and plenty of peaceful walks on his doorstep would suit him perfectly. He would love a household that can offer him a steady routine, patience, and kindness without too much chaos or unpredictability.

After almost three years of quietly waiting, he deserves the chance to swap his kennel for a home of his own, where he can be part of a family and enjoy the simple pleasures he loves most: a good walk, a quiet place to rest, and a person to share his gentle loyalty with. Older dogs deserve a chance too.

Please note all our Bosnian dogs arrive to kennels based in Ormskirk when they get to the UK. Adopters are required to arrange collection from there.
