About Klea

Klea is a beautiful young dog who was brought into the shelter by the dog warden recently after she was found as a stray just after Christmas. Although she’s a gorgeous dog and we were initially sure someone would come looking for her, no one has, and without a microchip it’s impossible to know if she was owned before she found her way to us.

Klea is now waiting in the shelter for her forever home. She has settled in well all things considered and is a very friendly, cheeky and energetic girl. She adores being around people and can be bouncy to begin with, but she is just desperate for attention and cuddles. As soon as you’re petting her or rubbing her tummy, she melts. She is very enthusiastic with people and clearly loves their company, but we have noticed that if you move quickly or unexpectedly, Klea’s reflex is to duck her head slightly, so we suspect she might have been hit at some point in her life.

Klea shares her kennel with another female dog who’s larger than her and they get along well. They don’t really know how to play with one another as their characters are quite different, but they enjoy a snuggle at night to keep warm and they coexist well together. They share their space without issue and is Klea gets a little too bouncy with her kennel mate and causes a little warning growl between them, she reads the signs very well and backs off. She means absolutely no harm but sometimes she just can’t control her joy and excitement!

Klea is a very intelligent dog and would respond very well to training. She has a lot of potential to learn new things and we’re definitely looking for a home for her with a family who are keen to work on her training and recognise the benefits. Brain training is as important for highly intelligent dogs as exercise and walks are. She’s also looking for an active home, ideally based semi-rurally or outside of the city at least, and with direct access to a secure garden.

Because Klea is quite bouncy we would recommend her to a home with children aged 8+ who won’t get knocked over so easily, but we do think this behaviour is likely to decrease anyway once she starts to get settled. At the shelter every little thing that happens is so exciting because their days are so boring, but in a home with routine, she will start to feel more balanced and know what to expect each day. Klea hasn’t been tested with cats but we think she would be better suited to a home without resident felines, but we’re confident she can live with other dogs.

In the short time Klea has been in the shelter she has made quite an impression on the volunteers, so we can’t wait to see how she settles into a forever home. She has so much love to give and we know she’s going to be a very loyal and loving companion in the right family.

Klea is currently based in Cyprus and has a clean bill of health. She is ready to travel once she finds her forever home.

Please note, any mention of breed is nothing more than an educated guess based on what we know about the dog, their appearance, behaviour, and common breeds in their country of origin. We can never guarantee breed specifics, nor can we confirm the exact age of our dogs, unless they were born in our care. Age estimations are made by our vets based on the development of the dog, their general health and energy, and assessing their teeth.
