About Rex

Rex is one of eleven puppies who were born on the streets to two stray mothers. A local man had found them and wanted to help them, so he contacted our friends in Bosnia who supported him. Unfortunately, although his desire to help was well-meaning, his premises were not suitable for all the puppies and when our partner team visited they discovered the dogs living in poor conditions and they had all contracted a parasite called Giardia (which causes diarrhoea).

The dogs were all isolated, treated, and then moved into a secure kennels in the city where they could receive better care in a clean environment. They had however been shown love, and were trusting, friendly and playful with people.

Max is a lovely boy with an energetic nature. He’s a lover of fun and really enjoys playing with his siblings and is no stranger to a bit of rough and tumble in the grass. He’s one of the more active siblings and is definitely looking for a household with a consistently energetic lifestyle. He’d be at home in the hills, running through the countryside or playing on the beach with another canine companion.

There’s not much difference between Max and Rex other than the fact that Rex is smaller. He also loves to chase, and be chased, and loves running rings around the other dogs excitedly when he’s out in the garden. He’s a very enthusiastic boy and a joy to watch when he’s interacting with the other pups. He really enjoys human company too and is very affectionate with those he feels familiar with and loves a cuddle! Rex is not yet lead trained, and due to the fact he’s living in kennels we can’t assume he is house trained either so these are both areas that will need work from his new family. He’d be happiest adopted in a semi-rural area, and definitely with access to a nice, secure garden so he can play outside whenever he likes. He’s not used to being confined to indoor space all the time so having a garden will help to put him at ease and settle into a companion lifestyle.

To give them the best chance of settling into a companion lifestyle we encourage all adopters to consult with a behaviourist to prepare for their pup’s arrival and learn how to understand and communicate with their new family member.

Please note, any mention of breed is nothing more than an educated guess based on what we know about the dog: their appearance, behaviour, and common breeds in their country of origin. We can never guarantee breed specifics, nor can we confirm the exact age of our dogs, unless they were born in our care. Age estimations are made by our vets based on the development of the dog, their general health and energy, and assessing their teeth.
