About Rex

Rex was brought into the government shelter by the dog warden after he was found roaming as a stray. It was obvious from day one that Rex was a smart boy and it didn’t take long for him to settle in. He has been trusting, adaptable and keen to please from the day he arrived and he’s now very settled into shelter routine. We would love for this year to give Rex the new beginning that he really deserves.

Rex is a Shepherd mix and is roughly a year old. He’s still a young dog and learning things each and every day. He has heaps of potential to engage in proper training and he would love a home where he gets lots of mental stimulation as well as exercise and time spent outdoors.

Rex currently lives in a compound with six other dogs of various sizes, both males and females, and in the time he’s been in the shelter the dogs he’s shared his kennel with have changed often. He’s therefore learnt to build relationships quickly, learn how to read body language, and learn how to navigate play with a range of different characters. He could live alongside another dog, but is confident enough to be the only resident dog in the household.

Rex is looking for an active home with a garden, and a family who are familiar with the training and exercise that a young Shepherd thrives on. He is very trusting and devoted to those who show him kindness, and it won’t be difficult to form a strong bond with Rex given a short amount of time together. He is playful and keen to learn new things, so would make an excellent companion.

Rex doesn’t have much experience around young children, but based on his temperament and nature we would feel comfortable for him to live in a home with children aged 8+. He has not been tested with cats and as shepherds can often have a bit of a prey drive, we would rather look for a feline free home to ensure we’re setting him up for success.

Without question, Rex would make a fantastic addition to an outdoorsy, active family, preferably with some past dog experience as Shepherds aren’t always the best for first time dog owners. In the right home this boy will absolutely shine.

Rex is currently based in Cyprus and has a clean bill of health. He is ready travel once he finds his forever home.

Please note, any mention of breed is nothing more than an educated guess based on what we know about the dog, their appearance, behaviour, and common breeds in their country of origin. We can never guarantee breed specifics, nor can we confirm the exact age of our dogs, unless they were born in our care. Age estimations are made by our vets based on the development of the dog, their general health and energy, and assessing their teeth.
