My name is: Wolfie
I came from: Romania
Now I live in: Gillingham, Dorset
My favourite things are: Having a cuddle with my Mummy when we wake up, then a little play fight when I play bite her hands! I love chasing my ball and am a little obsessed.I love treats and the odd tit bit from my family, and one final thing I love is seeing my Mum’s sister and her daughter.

Wolfie’s story

When my dear friend contacted me about Wolfie to say they couldn’t take him as they had unexpectedly had to rescue a friends dog, she suggested he may be the dog I’d been waiting for. One look at his dear little face and his situation, my husband and I decided to apply to adopt him. We were a bit worried that we may not be accepted as we had previously been refused a rescue dog as our garden was small. However, after completing the application form and having a home check with Leanne, she felt it was more than adequate as just outside the back gate was a very beautiful area of green belt land (which Wolfie has come to love!)

We went and collected Wolfie from Nadine in November 2019. He had been sick in her car after his journey (he’s still not a great car traveller) so was just being sorted out when we walked over to say hello to him on the lawn. He was to busy sniffing around to say hi! We were invited inside so we could finalise everything and meet properly and I sat on the floor and let Wolfie come to me when he was ready which wasn’t to long. We stayed a little while and had a cuppa and a play, then put him in the car to travel to his forever home. I sat in the back of the car with him so that he felt safe.

Wolfie walked into the house as if he already lived here! He had a good look around, sniffed his toys and settled in. He loves soft toys and playing tug. We took him for a short walk and he went to the toilet, had a good sniff of every blade of grass and tree and came home and had a sleep. We have been so lucky with him, he only had a couple of toilet accidents in the first week which was amazing and nothing since.

He is a little apprehensive of men (even his Daddy) and definitely prefers the ladies. He's very protective of the house and does not like unexpected knocks at the door and does get a bit grumpy with trades people but I’m confident that he’s just being protective and would never hurt anyone.

He had a umbilical hernia operation a couple of months after he arrived and recovered well and was a great patient.

He has been a life saver for me over the last year (2020) and has help keep me sane. I also think he loves having me at home 24/7.

Wolfie is now nearly 18 months old and continues to show little changes in his behaviour - some good, some not, such as not coming back for his Dad when off lead, he always comes back for me. I think he’s trying to be in charge of him!

We feel so lucky to have Wolfie in our lives and thank Eve and the Underdog team for bringing him to us from Romania for a better life.
