About Aska

Aska was found living on the streets and was taken in by a local rescuer to be neutered as part of their TNR (trap, neuter, release) population control programme. Upon returning Aska to the area in which she’d been living, it shortly became apparent that she was being abused. The rescuer went back to find her and take her to safety, and found out locals had been throwing stones at her whenever she would come looking for food. By the time she was rescued her poor body was covered in cuts and sores, and she was skin and bone.

Despite her poor treatment, Aska has never been anything but loving towards people. She is so forgiving and loyal, and you’d never know that she had been so neglected based on how she behaves around humans. She has always been very gentle and approachable, and now, two years after her rescue, she is still waiting for her perfect forever home to come along.

Aska is thought to be a mix of Labrador and Istrian Hound. She is not only beautiful in her appearance, but is extremely friendly, trusting and confident. She is definitely an active dog and is looking for an energetic lifestyle with a family who recognise the importance not only of physical exercise, but also mental enrichment and training. Typical of hound types, Aska loves to follow her nose and is often glued to the ground when outdoors. Aska is so eager to please and very keen to learn, so training will really benefit her bond-building with a new family as well as improving her general behaviour inside a conventional home setting. Aska has never, to our knowledge, lived in a proper home before, so this will be a very new experience, and potentially a bit overwhelming to start with. She therefore needs a gentle and patience approach, and plenty of time and understanding whilst she finds her feet. She is looking for a home without cats, and ideally children should be 8+ as she is an active dog and will occasionally get over excited.

Aska has been cared for alongside other dogs for the past two years and has been very good with getting to know lots of other characters and personalities. She is a confident dog and is very sociable. This can sometimes be a bit intimidating for more submissive dogs but Aska has learned to read body language well and give space to those who don’t want to play with her. She would be fine in a home where she was the only resident dog and certainly doesn’t seem to rely on canine companionship. She is more focused on people.

Aska is looking for an active, semi-rural home with direct access to a garden and a family prepared to put some time and energy into training to help her adapt to being a companion. She is a lovely dog with so much to give to anyone her shows her a little kindness! If you’re looking for a devoted companion and a partner in crime for adventuring, Aska’s your girl.

Aska is currently based in Bosnia and has a clean bill of health. She is ready to travel once she finds her forever home.

Please note, any mention of breed is nothing more than an educated guess based on what we know about the dog, their appearance, behaviour, and common breeds in their country of origin. We can never guarantee breed specifics, nor can we confirm the exact age of our dogs, unless they were born in our care. Age estimations are made by our vets based on the development of the dog, their general health and energy, and assessing their teeth.
