Bosco’s story

The moment I saw Bosco’s picture I knew he was the dog for me, it was the crimped ears that did it, and that big smile. I had grown up with dogs and always pictured my future with one in it. So when me and my boyfriend were about to move into our new home, it felt like the right time to start properly looking after years of talking about getting a dog. I knew I wanted to adopt and to be able to give a home to a dog that really needed it.

I found out about Underdog International online and applied with no idea the type of dog they would come back with. When Eve sent me pictures and a description of Bosco I fell in love instantly, I just had this gut feeling he was our dog. We don’t know a huge amount about Bosco’s background apart from he was found on the streets near the shelter. He was being fostered in Cyprus when I spoke to Eve which was really helpful as we were able to get lots of videos and regular updates about him. My boyfriend was pretty nervous about getting a rescue and to be honest lots of people thought we were crazy getting a dog we had never met before from another country. But I was adamant and I’m glad I have proved them all wrong. I asked Eve millions of questions about Bosco and she was so patient and answered all of them thoroughly. I’m so glad we asked so many questions as I felt we knew a lot about him and his temperament when he arrived which made the transition so much smoother.

Since arriving in London, Bosco has taken to city life like a duck to water. The first few days he was pretty nervous of stairs and small doorways but with a lot of praise and patience he was was flying up and down stairs in no time. All in all I feel very lucky with how smooth our time with Bosco has been, and how loving towards humans and strangers he is. The cuddliest friendliest dog around. Of course hasn’t been without hiccups, but getting a rescue I didn’t expect it to be. He was quite reactive on the lead to dogs at first, and still can be when crossing roads at traffic lights and when waiting in queues which we are still working on. But with lots of patience and positive reinforcement he is all in all a very well behaved fun loving joyful dog. I haven’t meet a person who hasn’t fallen in love with him. He charms everyone he meets.

If anyone is out there thinking about adopting a dog, I can honestly say from the bottom of my heart it’s the best thing we have done. The happiness and joy Bosco brings to our life everyday I can’t put into words. It sounds so soppy but it will be the best thing you will ever do. It won’t be without hard work and a lot of patience but to give a dog a home that really needs it and will be so grateful to you is very special. Thank you Eve and Underdog for bringing Bosco into our lives.
