Moose’s story

My husband, Ian, and I grew up with dogs. We had been wanting a dog for a while but a few transcontinental moves and non-dog friendly rentals got in the way. I was perusing Instagram when I saw Sofia’s posts about bringing Charlie home. That led us to spending hours on Underdog’s website and Instagram. We saw Moose’s post and immediately fell in love with the “slightly goofy, extremely friendly, active” 2 year old boy.

Since Moose was already in London, we luckily got a chance to meet him. We rented a car, drove to Greenwich Park to see him and his foster mum, Eva, (also Tasso’s mum). Within the first two minutes, Moose stood on his hind legs, hugged the both of us with his two front paws. We melted on the spot and knew we had to convince Underdog he was coming home with us.

From the moment we applied to the moment we scheduled Moose’s arrival, it was a seamless journey. The small and mighty army of team members and volunteers cared so much about finding the dogs their best home. Sofia, Eva, Stef and Eve were all incredibly supportive and would regularly check-in during the early days.

Moose is not a fan of the unfamiliar and he’s naturally skeptical. It took him a minute to get used to city life -- the cars, lifts, escalators, public transport and going into shops. He still doesn't love escalators but he’s an absolute champ and doesn’t try to slip his harness.

We love how he crushes on older ladies, flirts with dog owners, explores bushes and tall grass, and somehow always finds a patch of sun to enjoy. We love his gangly legs, his mastery of puppy dog eyes, his cheekiness, his grumbles when he has something to complain about. He’s patient with children, even more so if they have treats.

He’s been an absolute dream addition to the family and we’re so thankful of the Underdog team and volunteers for bringing him into our lives.
