About Chia

Chia is currently in a foster home in Bedford after arriving from Cyprus in June. She’s a gorgeous Labrador/Pointer mix and is now around seven months old. She’s super sweet, affectionate and balanced, and her foster family are absolutely loving having her, but it’s time for her to find her forever home!

Chia has a lovely, well-rounded temperament. She can be a little goofball one moment, racing around the garden with her toys, and then settle down quietly for a snooze or to chew on a favourite toy. She enjoys human company and loves to be close, but she is equally content entertaining herself when her foster is busy.

She has been sociable from day one with other dogs and gets along beautifully with every dog she has met so far. She was also very friendly with other dogs in the shelter, and now she’s in the UK she’s already made loads of friends in the community and on walks. She reads body language really well and gets on with dogs of all different sizes, shapes and ages. She is respectful of their size and has figured out how to tailor her play accordingly which is great for such a young dog!

Indoors, although generally well settled, sudden movements towards her can still make Chia a little nervous, but she has adapted very well to life with her foster family’s resident dog, often looking to her for reassurance and guidance. For this reason, we feel Chia would be happiest in a home with a confident, friendly dog to help her continue building confidence.

Chia is housetrained, crate trained, and sleeps well through the night. She has shown no issues around food or toys and is happy to give things up if asked. She takes treats very gently and is proving herself to be a quick learner, already mastering “sit” and “on your bed,” with “down” happening every now and again!

Out on walks, Chia is curious and enjoys exploring. She walks nicely on a lead but is still learning not to pull when she’s excited. She loves her daily outings and would enjoy a home with regular opportunities for walks, play and adventures.

Chia has met children and been calm and gentle with them. We feel slightly older, dog-savvy children would suit her best, as she can occasionally be a little nervous if people approach her too quickly indoors. She has shown some intrigue towards cats and we’re not confident that she would be ideal for a home with resident felines at this stage.

Chia is a delightful, affectionate, loyal and clever dog who is ready to bring love and joy to her new family. She would suit a calm household where she can enjoy a good balance of activity and relaxation, and where her gentle nature can continue to flourish. She’s just a puppy and she’s learning more about the world every single day. She’s blossoming in her foster home and we know she’s going to make someone very happy!
