About Peanut

Peanut and her siblings were brought into the shelter as an abandoned litter when they were just a month old. They were so tiny, they looked like baby otters - just piles of fluff that napped on each other for the majority of the day. As the pups got older, more playful and independent, one by one they were adopted locally. Unfortunately, Peanut is now the only one left behind. All her brothers and sisters have left, and she’s been adopted into another litter of new arrivals so she’s not alone. We would love to find her forever home now and give her the chance her siblings have had.

Peanut is never the loudest of the bunch or the first puppy to come dashing over to you. She’s a little more reserved and sensitive, and sometimes a little unsure around new people. She was always used to her siblings stealing the limelight while she hung back, so when she does get some 1-2-1 attention she realises just how great it is and suddenly has a burst of excitement!

Peanut has spent some time with children around the age of eight, and she absolutely loved them. She was a tiny but shy to start with, but then climbed into their laps and gave them loads of kisses. She was loving all the attention and cuddles, and we think that she would be a lovely addition to a home with gentle kids.

Around other dogs Peanut just makes friends with everyone. Because she is a more submissive character she can sometimes get trampled or bullied, but she’s learning to hold her own and stand her ground! She has integrated alongside multiple new puppies that have arrived during her time, and she’s made friends with them all. She’s playful, loves a bit of rough and tumble, and likes having company to snuggle up with at nap time. She would be great with another resident dog and would learn so much from having a confident company to follow in the footsteps of.

Peanut would be best suited to a calm household with a moderately active lifestyle and access to a garden. She needs reassurance, patient and time as she is adapting to a companion lifestyle. This will be a very new concept for her, as she’s never lived in a home before. And as with any puppies, she will need continued socialisation, training, and plenty of company.

Peanut has the sweetest, most charming personality and it’s so sad that she’s been left behind, but perhaps they’ve left the best til last!
