About Peppy

Peppy was found as a stray in Cyprus and brought in to the shelter with no collar, no microchip, and no one came looking for him. We decided to bring him to the UK to a foster home as the shelter was getting very overcrowded, and he’s been settling in so well!

Peppy is a young retriever mix with the happiest of personalities. He turned one in July this year, and he’s endlessly cheerful, full of life and forever wagging his tail. He’s always up for anything and he’s settled into his foster home so well, it’s hard to believe that he’s ever lived anywhere else. He takes everything in his stride and is quick to make himself at home wherever he goes. He does have a few physical scars from his past life in Cyprus, but they’re well on their way to healing now.

True to his retriever roots, Peppy loves food (and always acts like he’s never been fed!), toys and being around people. He’s an affectionate, playful pup who is always up for a walk, a game of tug or a cuddle on the sofa afterwards. He’s eager to try new things and is always curious and enthusiastic, whether it’s meeting new people, exploring a different environment or even having a shower, which, surprisingly, he seemed to enjoy!

Peppy is wonderfully social and enjoys meeting new people and dogs alike. He can get a little excitable when greeting people and sometimes forgets his manners by jumping up, but he’s learning to keep all four paws on the floor and is improving every day. He’s met lots of dogs on his adventures and gets on well with them all, though his bouncy play style and excited barking can be a bit much for quieter dogs.

Out and about, Peppy is a pleasure to walk. He doesn’t pull on the lead and loves nothing more than exploring the world around him. He’s confident in new places and has already been to a hotel, pubs and cafés, where he behaved beautifully, settling under the table for a nap once he’d taken in his surroundings. He’s housetrained, his crate training is in progress, and he’s quick to learn new things, especially when treats are involved!

At home, Peppy is playful but also knows how to relax, often snuggling up to his foster sister for a nap, who is very patient whilst he’s wriggling about trying to get comfy! He enjoys having his soft toys nearby, and is learning to wait patiently for his turn at treat time.

Peppy would suit a home where he can get plenty of love, companionship and stimulation. He’s a fairly typical retriever who’s just happy to be here, and has a huge heart and an equally large personality. He could live happily with another friendly dog or as the centre of attention on his own. He’s still young and has a bit of growing and learning to do, but his adaptable temperament, intelligence and charm make him an absolute joy to have around. He’ll make a wonderful companion for someone who’s ready for a playful, affectionate and endlessly loyal best friend.
