About Vinnie

We are looking for an urgent home for Vinnie, his family have made the very hard decision that due to a change in circumstances combined with an upcoming surgery, they're no longer able to care for him properly, and they want to find him a home where he can get the time and attention he deserves. Vinnie arrived in the UK in 2025 as a very nervous dog, and although he has come on leaps and bounds since then, he will need a dedicated home that can give him what he needs if he is to adjust and settle properly into a new environment.

Vinnie is a very affectionate and loyal boy with the people he knows and loves. He wants to be close to his family, is happiest when he's included in whatever they're doing, and forms strong bonds once he trusts you. He’s even great with children once he knows they’re safe! He is much more unsure around strangers, particularly people coming into the home, and will need an adopter who understands how to introduce new people slowly and on his terms.

Vinnie can be reactive on the lead, both to other dogs and to unfamiliar people, and wears a muzzle when out in public. This will need to continue with his new family. Despite this, he's been attending regular agility and group training sessions, where he is very well known and well loved by the group, and he clearly enjoys the structure and activity. It's a lovely reminder that, with the right support around him, he is a dog who wants to learn and engage.

Change doesn't come easily to Vinnie, and we'd expect him to need extra time to settle into anywhere new. His ideal home is a quiet one, without a lot of footfall or unpredictability, where he can adjust at his own pace. A consistent daily routine, and a commitment to keeping up his training, will make a big difference to him. Given how much change he's already facing, it’s important to make sure it is the right match and Vinnie won't need to adjust to a new home again.

Vinnie doesn't like being left alone and can bark when he is, so he needs someone who can be around for him, especially while he's settling in. He wants to be involved with the people he loves and not be left out. He is looking for an adopter who is patient, consistent, and willing to learn his ways. He's not a dog for a busy household or a first time owner, but for the right person, prepared to put in the time and understand him properly, he has a huge amount of love and loyalty to give.
