About Badger
Badger was rescued from an overcrowded public shelter in Bosnia where he was absolutely terrified. He has since found his place in a small scale shelter where he’s really beginning to find his confidence and come out of his shell slowly but surely. He was so withdrawn when he first arrived, but he’s learning now that not all humans will be cruel to him.
Badger is tiny, weighing just under 6kg, and as he’s already around a year old we’re not expecting him to grow much more. Because he’s a small sized dog, a lot of things can feel quite overwhelming for him, so he’s looking for a calm, understanding home where his new family are able to give him the time and patience to adapt to a companion lifestyle at his own pace.
Badger would be perfect for a laid-back home with a relatively quiet atmosphere. He gets on well with other dogs, and we think that a home with a gentle resident dog who can show him the ropes would really help him to settle in more quickly. He’s still a little cautious and subdued around new people, so having a friend to show him that everything will be okay will help to let his guard down.
Badger would be a good fit for a home looking for a more calm, chilled dog that doesn’t need lots of long walks. His small size makes him very manageable to handle, and he is getting better on the lead with the help of the volunteers who come to see the dogs every week.
Because Badger is a little more reserved in his character, we would suggest a home with children aged 8+ who have a bit more understanding of dogs and can respect his space as he settles in. He’s gentle and kind towards children, but we wouldn’t want to put him in a home that was a bit too unpredictable for his liking, as it would make him feel uncomfortable.
Given the right home, a loving family, and the gift of time and patience, Badger will flourish into such a great companion. He just needs the chance to show someone that underneath his initial apprehension, there is the sweetest little guy ready to become someone’s best friend.
