About Flo

Our polite, petite and patient little girl Flo was brought into the shelter at the beginning of the year after she was found roaming without a collar or microchip. She’s around two years old and is one of our smaller shelter residents, but she’s doing well to hold her own in such a busy, overwhelming environment.

Flo is lovely. She’s very human focused and although she won’t compete to be in the spotlight, given the opportunity she loves to be the centre of attention. She’s great with people and would be perfect for someone who is looking for a little companion they can involve in all aspects of their day, whether that’s chilling on the sofa, popping to coffee shops, or enjoying a nice long walk. She wouldn’t enjoy being left alone during the day for extended periods of time and would prefer a home where she has frequent company. She spins and bounces excitedly when you go up to interact with her, and even just a kind word will get her tail wagging!

Flo is very food motivated and takes treats very politely. As she’s so small and delicate, she will often stand on her back legs and lean against you to make sure she doesn’t lose out on a treat to another dog! As she’s so tiny though, her jumping up isn’t really an issue. She’s also really smart and observant, so she’ll pick up new training and commands quickly, especially with food as the reward.

Although she’s small, Flo is still lively and has a moderate amount of energy, so she’s looking for a home that likes to get out and about. She would be happier in a home a little outside of the city where it’s not too loud and where she can enjoy a leisurely pace of life. She just wants to be the centre of someone’s universe and be showered in all the love and attention she’s craving.

Flo would prefer a home without young children as sudden, unpredictable movements can be a bit unnerving for her. She is absolutely fine with other dogs in the shelter and has had no issues sharing her space with multiple other residents since she arrived, but she’s confident and sociable with people, so doesn’t depend on other dogs. She would be quite content in a home where she’s the only dog.

Flo may be small but she has so much love to offer. She’s the perfect little companion, and we know she’s going to become someone’s absolute best friend given the chance.
