About Hollie

Hollie was brought into the shelter heavily pregnant, and gave birth to three tiny puppies just days later. Unfortunately, one of them didn’t make it, and it was touch and go for the whole family for a little while due to how much stress they’d been under during Hollie’s pregnancy. Fast forward two months and her two puppies are fighting fit and already reserved for adoption, so now it’s Hollie’s turn.

When she first arrived in the shelter, poor Hollie was incredibly shut down. She wouldn’t look at anyone for weeks and would sit silently in the corner of her crate, making herself as small as physically possible. We don’t know what she’d been through before she was rescued but we don’t think she had been treated with kindness. Slowly but surely, we started to make progress with her, and now she adores everyone in the main shelter team. She greets us every day with a wagging tail and lots of licks, and she loves human company.

Regarding new people, Hollie takes more time, and she needs a patient, understanding family who can let her build confidence and come to them in her own time. It will be worth the wait. Once she’s bonded with you, there’s no end to the cuddles she will share with you! She’s very affectionate and loves to sit on your lap, snuggle and be fussed over. She also has the most adorably expressive ears.

As she’s been in the shelter with her puppies, Hollie has been a little protective towards them and will bark at unfamiliar dogs if they come too close, but this is getting much better and she’s just a bit anxious. Once she realises there’s no threat, she’s not fussed. She would be fine in a home without other dogs, and would be more than happy being the centre of attention!

Hollie does have what we believe is a previous injury to her pelvis, which has healed by itself and does not require intervention. Her mobility is good and while she could do with strengthening, it’s nothing that won’t come naturally once she is in a home with a routine and regular walks. Her life is quite stationary at the moment due to the fact she and her puppies need to stay together for now.

Hollie will make a great companion for someone looking for a little dog who just wants to be the apple of their eye. She doesn’t ask for much really, she just wants to be loved. Being a terrier, she has her yappy moments, but on the whole she’s just a sweet, soft girl who needs a five star home after her rocky beginning.
