About Loumi
Loumi arrived in Scotland as a foster a couple of months ago after spending a long time in kennels in Cyprus where sadly she was being overlooked and getting very little promotion. We were thrilled to be able to find her a loving foster home, giving her the opportunity to settle into a companion lifestyle. She has now gained lots of confidence and social skills, and is ready to find her forever home.
Loumi is an adorable wire-haired Segugio Italiano. She’s gentle, sensitive, loving and sociable, and the longer she’s here the more her playful side is emerging! She is very food motivated, and she also now loves her cuddles, which is amazing to see as initially she was much more reserved and suspicious around people. Now that she feels safe, she is so much more snuggly!
Prior to the last two month, Loumi had never lived in a home before and it has been a huge adjustment for her that she has taken in her stride. Segugio Italiano’s are generally a shyer breed and take a little longer to warm up to new people and situations, so her progress has really impressed us and shown us just how capable she is of adjusting to conventional companion lifestyle. She has made loads of new friends, but remains a little more fearful around some men - although can be convinced otherwise if they offer her a treat! She is great around children, and loves to jump up for a cuddle so kids aged 7+ would be preferable.
Loumi is looking for a home with another resident dog. She gains a lot of confidence from their presence and is reassurance by their company. She follows the lead of other resident dogs in her foster home, and definitely feels safer with them, so another dog is a must for her. She gets on so well with every dog she meets out and about on walks and in the park too, she is just so sweet and polite to them all!
Loumi loves her walks and is good on the lead. Typical of her breed, she does have a prey drive and will chase rabbits and squirrels given the opportunity, so she has remained on a long line for her own safety. As she is still apprehensive around the noises of traffic, a home outside of the very busy city would be best for her.
Hounds make amazing companions in the right homes, and we know that Loumi will have nothing but love for the family that can offer her the happily ever after that she has been waiting for.
