About Lucky

Lucky is one of our oldest shelter residents at the age of eight years old. We thought when he arrived that he would be snapped up, but unfortunately he’s not managed to find his forever home just yet so we’re hoping it will be his time soon!

Lucky was brought into the shelter as an owner surrender when a family member became too old to care for him. Although he will had a home, it’s very possible that he was a left to roam free during the days, as is very common in Cyprus. He’s a confident, independent and headstrong little dog, and he loves human company almost as much as he loves food.

Lucky is a short, stocky dog (he kind of gives shrunken Labrador vibes) who enjoys leisurely walks, lots of fuss and plenty of treats. He would be best suited to a relaxed household that has a little garden for him to potter around in, outside of the city and with company during the day. Although Lucky does share his compound at the shelter with other dogs, both males and females, we think he would be really quite happy living as the only resident dog. He hasn’t caused any problems in the shelter, but he would love a home where he’s the centre of attention, or alongside a calm, female dog.

Lucky has been friendly with children that have visited the shelter and any opportunity to be fussed over, he’ll take it. He can be a little bit over zealous when taking treats though, so we would definitely recommend that children aren’t responsible for giving him snacks until he’s learned that food is aplenty and isn’t in short supply. He doesn’t mean any harm, but it’s common for shelter dogs that have to share food to consider treats very high value, and he can sometimes catch your fingers as he takes something from your hand.

Lucky would thrive in a chilled out home where he can watch the world go by from the garden, sunbathe in the occasional UK sunshine, and finally feel the comfort of a soft bed or plush sofa. He doesn’t ask for much really, but still has plenty of energy, character and desire to be involved. He’d love exploring in the woods, running through fields or even getting to experience the beach. Given some time to adapt to a new routine and integrate into an unfamiliar environment, we think Lucky will slot in just fine and be a very loving companion.
