About Marley
This gentleman is Marley, a beautiful soul who was offered refuge after spending years on the streets of Bosnia. He was assumed abandoned by his previous owner and wandered his way into a small village where he realised he was actually quite welcome. He spent a few years as a village dog, but unfortunately when dog trapping started to intensify in the surrounding villages, the locals feared for his safety and asked for help from a shelter.
Marley was quite happy on the streets, but it is often the difference between life and death for dogs in countries where they’re considered pests or nuisances. With Marley’s background in mind, we’re looking for a semi-rural or rural home for him, where he still has plenty of outdoor access, a large garden to potter around him, and a patient, relaxed family who understand that his world will have been turned upside down.
Marley has a heart of gold and is such a good natured dog. He is estimated to be around seven years old, but in adult dogs it is very much just an educated guess. He could be older or younger, it’s difficult to be certain, but he does have great teeth and is in good health. He is a medium sized boy and a very sociable guy. He loves his walks and is wonderful on the lead. He is calm, obedient and kind hearted, and he sees the good in everyone. Despite his time on the streets where life would have been harder for him, he’s remained resilient, trusting and forgiving. He’s always up for a cuddle and is very affectionate and friendly.
It’s likely that Marley has never had a proper home before, and adapting to a new routine and environment may be challenging at first, so his family need to be calm and let him adapt at his own pace. With lots of reassurance we’re sure he will get there and he’ll begin to blossom. He would be best suited to a calmer household, direct access to a secure garden, and a relatively quiet surrounding area to call home. He deserves to spend his golden years in the happiest of homes and we would love to see him get his second chance.
