About Rae
Rae’s litter arrived in the shelter when they were just one month old, after their mum was found as a stray. Unfortunately, their mum was absolutely terrified and it took a while for her to accept the shelter volunteers, but thankfully as the puppies started getting more independent and venturing out of their kennel on their own, they were much more sociable and keen to engage with people. It took a little while to work on their confidence, but they’re all doing so well and are now ready to find their new homes.
Although she’s a little suspicious with new people at first, Rae is absolutely lovely when she’s relaxed with you. She’s playful, silly and curious, and not to mention absolutely gorgeous too. She’s interested in toys and loves anything that she can chew or chase, and she also likes watching the pigeons as they fly overhead or perch in the trees.
Rae enjoys a cuddle and is getting more confident by the day when it comes to approaching new people, especially when she’s with her littermates - they’re so bouncy and excitable together! She’s not familiar with the lead just yet, but it’s a work in progress and she’s very receptive to training which is promising.
Rae is great with other dogs and loves to play and snuggle with them. We think that she would be more than happy living alongside a resident dog that she can learn from and play with. She would definitely adapt more quickly with the company and guidance of another dog, but as long as her new family are prepared to go at her pace and be patient with her, she could also be adopted as the only dog.
Rae’s ideal home would be a loving family home that are looking for a young dog to raise outside of the city, who they can dedicate time to training and socialising. She would be happiest in a home that had direct access to a secure garden, as she enjoys being outside.
Each of the pups will need patient, understanding families who recognise that adapting to a companion lifestyle will be a very new concept for all of them, as they’ve never lived in a home before. And as with any puppies, they will need continued socialisation, training, and plenty of company.
Rae has had some initial exposure to children and we think she would be suitable to live alongside slightly older children, as she is more reserved, but with gentle children we think she will form a lovely bond. Rae has taken everything in her stride since being in the shelter, and we’re confident that in the right home she will only continue to make excellent progress and grow into a balanced young dog.
