About Wilbur
Wilbur is a sweet, thoughtful little pup with a quiet charm all of his own. He and his siblings were found abandoned outside a church in Cyprus. They were surprisingly in good condition, which isn’t often the case for abandoned dogs, so it was clear they had been cared for before. A local rescuer took them in and gave them a safe place to stay, and we promised to help rehome them. Since then, their personalities have been blossoming, and they are now ready to start looking for their new homes.
Wilbur is the more reserved member of the litter. He tends to follow rather than lead, looking to his siblings for reassurance in new situations. With a little time and patience, he becomes braver and can make his own decisions, but we feel that he does need a slower paced home with people who understand that he might take a little while to come fully out of his shell. Once he feels safe, Wilbur’s lovely personality comes out. He’s a playful, silly, and affectionate little puppy who loves toys, enjoys a good run around, and can’t resist a treat. He can be a little hand shy at first, but when you sit down on his level with him and offer gentle ear rubs or chin scratches, he quickly melts and shows how eager he is to make friends.
Wilbur is naturally curious and enjoys watching what his siblings are up to, learning from their confidence. He gets on well with other dogs and benefits from their companionship, often looking to them for reassurance when meeting new pups. He may bark if startled, but his social instincts and desire to fit in mean he quickly settles.
With people, Wilbur can be a little standoffish at first, but he’s gentle and patient. He may take a little time to warm up completely, but there is no malice in him, only a sweet, trusting nature that blossoms once he feels secure. He would be best suited to a home with older, predictable children who can respect his pace and help him build confidence. Young, noisy children would be too overwhelming for him at the moment.
Wilbur would thrive in a calm, semi-rural home with access to a secure garden where he can explore safely and enjoy the outdoors. He would enjoy walks, playtime, and the company of a friendly, confident dog to help guide him, but he is also perfectly happy relaxing close to his people once he has settled in. He has so much potential to grow into a confident, happy companion given the chance. With patience, understanding, and affection, he’ll be unstoppable!
