About Alf
Alf was brought into the shelter after he was found as a stray without a microchip or collar. He spent a few days feeling very subdued and was quite sensitive to all the change to begin with, so he welcomed a gentle cuddle and someone to sit with. Over the past few weeks though he has really got his bearings and has now happily settled into his new environment and routine.
Alf is around a year old and is objectively drop dead gorgeous. He is absolute charmer and has the sweetest nature. He’s always happy to see people and comes lolloping over with a waggy tail and a wiggly bum, and he just loves a cuddle. He’s so affectionate and will worm his way into your lap to get as close as he possibly can.
Although he’s a quiet boy in the shelter, given his hound DNA we think once he’s settled in he might have a bit of a voice on him! Hounds love to sing, so sensitive neighbours might not be the best! Alf has also already learned to ‘sit’, ‘paw’, and is in the process of learning a slightly haphazard ‘down’. He is very food motivated and absolutely loves treats. He can be int he giddiest of moods and as soon as you bring treats out he sits politely, ready to impress!
Alf has a really silly, sweet and gentle nature. He’s so lovely to spend time with and the fact that he learns to love you so quickly is really endearing. He is trusting, sociable and polite, but he also has a very playful, goofy side to him. He would be best suited to a semi-rural home with a garden given his breed, and would enjoy a fairly active lifestyle.
Alf is quietly confident and would be comfortable living on his own as the only dog in the household, but he is also friendly and happy in the company of other pups too. He does have limited experience around young children, although we think his nature would allow for him to live with kids aged 6+. One thing to note though is that he does sometimes take treats a bit hastily, and although he means no harm he might nip your fingertips accidentally!
This boy is an absolute gem and we’re really quite jealous of whoever is lucky enough to call him their own. He has a special quality about him that we know will only continue to grow in the security of a loving home, and he’s going to make the best companion.
