About Arthur

Arthur arrived at the shelter after being found as a stray. He was underweight and struggling with an upset stomach when he first came in, and he lay in the kennel and kept himself to himself for days, until he was finally feeling better. He’s now much happier and ready to find his forever home.

Arthur is such a cutie. He’s a gentle, submissive soul with caramel eyes, and he formed an alliance immediately with another little dog who was being bullied by his kennel mates. The pair of them are smart and now hang out together, keeping their distance from the bossier dogs. They’re so nice to each other and have really bonded given their similar personalities.

This in mind, Arthur could definitely be rehomed to a family with another dog. He would love a friend so it would need to be a friendly, sociable dog who won’t try and bully him. He enjoys canine company and doesn’t challenge anyone. But, he could also live as the only dog in the household too, as long as he has lots of human company.

Arthur is only around a year old and he’s on the smaller side of medium, similar to that of beagle, but more slight. He is a very good natured dog and has a soft, calm character. He’s more playful and puppy like the more you get to know him and the more settled he feels, and we’re sure in a home environment where he recognises he’s part of the family, he will blossom!

Arthur would be best suited to a semi-rural home, away from lots of traffic and noise. Being a little hound, he would love plenty of gorgeous green spaces to explore nose first, and he would really benefit from a home with direct access to a secure garden. He responds really well to reassurance, being talked to, and of course he loves treats too, so all of these things will really help to build a trusting, strong bond with him. He is so sweet when he gets attention among his kennel group, as though he’s saying ‘me? Really?’, and his little tail starts speed wagging!

Although there’s not a bad bone in Arthur’s body, we think he would be better suited to a slightly more predictable atmosphere, so children 6+ would be better for him. Another dog at home will definitely improve his confidence in a new environment more quickly, but isn’t compulsory as long as he has plenty of focus and affection. He’s such a lovely little guy and will be so grateful for a second chance.
