About Cece
Cece arrived at the shelter as an unclaimed stray, a story we’ve heard many a time. No one came looking for her, and she had no microchip or collar, so who knows where she came from. She was however in good health, and happy to meet new people, so we’re hopeful that she’s not had a difficult start in life.
Cece is around a year and a half old and she is a beautiful girl with a very happy, friendly and sociable personality. She loves being around people and is very eager to please, quietly confident, and reads other dogs well. It took a little while for her to initially calm down when she first arrived in the shelter as she had some nervous energy to burn off, but once we’d found her the ideal kennel mates and she’d had some time to decompress, her true nature started to shine through.
As mentioned, Cece now shares her kennel with multiple other dogs of various sizes, ages and energy levels. She’s loving having the opportunity to make new friends and enjoys playing with them and just being in their company. While we don’t feel she’s dependant on other dogs, she definitely likes hanging out with them, and she’s more than happy to share her bed, which is so cute.
18 months old is still young, so Cece would benefit from some basic training to help refine her manners a little. She learnt to sit in no time, despite all the distractions around her in the shelter. As she is food motivated, this works really well as a reward. When she’s excited to see you Cece is prone to jumping up a bit, but it doesn’t take long for this to pass and with some routine and a proper home setting, we’re confident that is very trainable.
The ideal home for Cece would be with a family who enjoy time outdoors, have direct access to a secure garden, and who are keen to invest some time into a young dog learning about a whole new world. We think the outskirts of the city would be preferable for Cece, or of course a more rural setting would suit her just fine too. She’d enjoy a fairly active lifestyle, and with some time and patience we think she will make a brilliant addition to a family home.
