About Chase

Chase and his siblings were abandoned outside the shelter in a cardboard box when they were just two months old. It’ll be his first birthday in August, and he’s still waiting for his ticket out of Cyprus. All his siblings were adopted locally or flew home months ago, but because Chase was the shyest of the group, he got left behind on his own. He’s had an incredibly sheltered puppyhood, and we’re desperate for that to change for him.

Chase is a very gentle soul who needs a patient, reassuring and loving home where he can finally feel secure and safe. He is timid in new situations and around people he doesn’t know, but he’s very brave and will tolerate everything as best he can, you can just tell he’s not very comfortable. He is also very food motivated, so treats often help him relax a little. He would do best in a home with a family who have nurtured a withdrawn rescue dog before, and have the understanding and capacity to let Chase adapt at his own pace.

We feel that Chase would blossom in a home with another resident dog who can really show him the ropes, boost his confidence, and be his friend. He is wonderful with other dogs and looks to them for reassurance all the time, so a self assured, playful and sociable resident dog would be the perfect match for him. We think that he would struggle in a home where he was on his own, especially given the fact that he has only even known a life with canine company around him ever since he was born.

As Chase is a shy boy, we are looking for a home with older children only, who are quieter, more predictable, and understand boundaries. He would find living with young noisy children really overwhelming, and we want to make this transition as easy as possible for him.

Chase’s ideal home would be based semi-rurally, surrounded by lovely places to walk and explore. A quieter community would be best for him, and he would also benefit from direct access to a secure garden. He has never been in a home before, so might struggle with feeling contained to begin with, so access to a garden will make his adjustment easier for him. When he’s settled, we expect Chase will enjoy a moderately active routine, and a laidback home atmosphere where he can chill out, play with his new resident dog pal, and watch the world go by in the garden. He’s not had the best start to life, but we can make sure the rest of it is much more promising.
