About Chester

Chester’s litter arrived in the shelter when they were just one month old, after their mum was found as a stray. Unfortunately, their mum was absolutely terrified and it took a while for her to accept the shelter volunteers, but thankfully as the puppies started getting more independent and venturing out of their kennel on their own, they were much more sociable and keen to engage with people. It took a little while to work on their confidence, but they’re all doing so well and are now ready to find their new homes.

Similarly to his brother, Chester is a little more reserved and is looking for a calm and understanding family to help him adjust to a companion lifestyle. He has grown in confidence significantly over the past few weeks, but he still needs a bit more reassurance. He gets a little bit overwhelmed by things he’s unfamiliar with, and he just needs someone that he can trust to show him that everything is okay and there’s no need to worry. He’s just a baby, and he’s learning new things every single day.

Chester is great with other dogs and is both playful and friendly. He would be more than happy living alongside a resident dog that he can learn from and make friends with. He would definitely adapt more quickly with the company and guidance of another dog, but as long as his new family are prepared to go at his pace and be patient with him, he could also be adopted as the only dog.

Chester’s ideal home would be a loving family home that are looking for a young dog to raise outside of the city, who they can dedicate time to training and socialising. He would love someone who can give him all the focus and affection that he craves, as well as playing with him and introducing him to the world around him gently.

Each of the pups will need patient, understanding families who recognise that adapting to a companion lifestyle will be a very new concept for all of them, as they’ve never lived in a home before. And as with any puppies, they will need continued socialisation, training, and plenty of company.

Chester has had some initial exposure to children and we think she would be suitable to live alongside slightly older children, as he is more reserved, but with gentle children we think he will form a lovely bond. Puppies are remarkably resilient and eager to learn, so once Chester recognises that he’s safe in his new home we know that his personality will start to emerge.
