About Dave
Dave is around two years old and has spent half of his life stuck behind the bars of a kennel in the shelter. He was brought in by the dog warden after being found as a young stray in 2025 and since then he’s remained in the shelter, overlooked and unwanted. We’re hoping that 2026 will be his year, as he deserves a new family so much and has waited so patiently.
Dave is a hound mix and has so many wonderful personality traits. He is eager to please, equal parts smart but silly, very affectionate and always up for an adventure. Hounds are outdoorsy and active by nature, so he is keen to explore and really enjoys being outdoors. He is scent driven and loves to have his nose to floor, so any kind of scenting enrichment will be really good fun for him.
Dave is great with people and loves making new friends. He has a heart of gold and tries so hard to impress anyone who comes to fuss over him. He has a beautiful ‘sit’ that he presents very proudly, and he’s very food motivated which will really help with onward training. He love a snuggle too, and has ears like velvet which are impossible not to stroke!
Dave is friendly with other dogs and he currently shares his kennel with another male dog. The pair of them get on well and have shared their space for many months without issue. They share attention, food and treats without bickering, so we definitely feel that Dave could live in a home with other resident dogs. As he is also quite a confident dog though, he could be quite happy on his own too as long as he has plenty of human company.
Dave would enjoy a more active lifestyle in a home based semi-rurally. He would like a secure garden to spend time in, and would love a family who like long walks or trips to the beach. He may also be the kind of dog that could learn to accompany his adopter on runs too.
After all this time spent waiting for his big break, we’ve had plenty of time to get to know Dave and we know he’s going to be such a loyal best friend in a forever family. He’s full of love, has such a devoted nature, and will be such a great companion, he just needs a second chance!
