About Grace
Grace’s litter, aka the G pups, arrived at the shelter in June after they were all found living together as strays without their mum. They were terrified to begin with and spent a lot of time huddled together in their kennel, completely overwhelmed and frightened. After a few days they gradually started to get a bit braver, and now they’re ready for adoption.
Grace is one of the most confident pups in the litter, and even within the first couple of days after she arrived in the shelter she has been brave enough to approach new people, interact and cuddle. Some of the other pups follow her lead as she’s a very sociable little thing and loves to be in the company of people. She warms to anyone and everyone very quickly and is definitely ready to find a family of her own.
Grace is very food motivated and was the first of the litter to learn ‘sit’. She is also accepting of the lead, which can sometimes be a bit scary for new puppies to adapt to, but she’s taken everything in her stride and learns new things fast. She loves a belly rub, any excuse to be as close to you as possible, and she’s also very playful - the perfect all rounder!
Grace is great with other dogs and would be more than happy living alongside a resident dog that she can learn from and play with. She’s a very friendly girl and reads other dogs very well, but we also feel that she would be confident enough to be the only dog at home.
The ideal home for Grace would be a loving family home that are looking for a young dog to raise outside of the city. She would prefer a home with access to a garden, and this will also help with house training. As she grows into an adult dog, she will be looking for a moderately active lifestyle, and as she clearly loves to learn she’d also benefit from (and enjoy!) some basic training.
At just four months old the G pups are still very much learning each and every day. There are lots of different personalities within their litter, but they’re all growing and changing at their own pace. Each of them will need patient, understanding families who recognise that adapting to a companion lifestyle will be a very new concept for all of them, as they’ve never lived in a home before. And as with any puppies, they will need continued socialisation, training, and plenty of company.
Grace has had some initial exposure to children and we think she would be absolutely great living alongside kids. She is still a puppy, so it’s important that there are boundaries in place if she’s living alongside kids, for both parties! But as she is so affectionate and playful we think she would love having little people to befriend. She’s a wonderful young dog and we can’t wait to find her the perfect family to grow up with.
