About Indie

Indie was brought into the shelter after locals notified the dog warden that she had been roaming freely around the village for a few weeks. No one seemed to know where she’d come from, or was able to advise who she belonged to. With no microchip to help us connect the dots she ended up in the shelter, and is now waiting for a new home.

Indie is a beautiful girl who just blends in at the shelter. She doesn’t ask for much, she doesn’t demand attention, and she shares her kennel with two very silly male dogs who she is extremely tolerant and gentle with, despite their complete lack of spatial awareness or manners! She is very patient with other dogs and gets on well with them, but equally would be fine to be homed as the only resident dog, as she’s quietly confident and independent.

Indie is a very clever girl and loves her treats. As she’s food motivated this will really help with any further training her new family might want to do with her, as she responds really well to positive reinforcement. It’s likely that Indie is a shepherd mix, so she will enjoy training, enrichment and brain games, as dogs like her thrive with focus and direction.

The ideal home for Indie would be an active family who can offer her plenty of opportunities to explore and are looking for a loyal, devoted companion to accompany them on their adventures. Indie bonds with new people quickly and is a very loving dog, so we think she will adapt to a companion lifestyle well.

Indie would be happiest in a semi-rural setting where she’s surrounded by nice places to walk, fields to roam through or woods to wander in. She would welcome trips to the beach or long hikes at the weekend, and she will be able to keep up with a more active pace of life. We’re sure she’ll be very excited to experience home comforts as well though! We don’t know if Indie has ever had the opportunity to have her own bed or even live indoors before, so her family need to be patient while she adjusts in her own time. For anyone looking for a loyal best friend, Indie would be perfect.
