About Java

Another new arrival to the shelter is little Java, and we love her! She found her way into a municipal pound after she was spotted roaming the streets, and sadly she didn’t have a microchip that allowed us to reunite her with anyone that may have been missing her. Once we had space in the shelter, she was brought to us, and she’s been settling in really well!

Java is estimated to be around seven years old making her one of the oldest dogs in our care at the moment. She is a pint sized diva with an amazing character and we know she is going to bring so much joy to someone’s home. Being a Jack Russell, she knows what she likes, what she wants, and how to be an independent little lady. However, when she’s decided she would like affection, she is just a baby and she needs to be held as such.

Java would like a home away from the busy city, where she can enjoy leisurely walks, potter about in her own little garden, and enjoy plenty of company throughout the day. She loves to sunbathe, meander about outside taking in all the smells, and she is also a very nosey neighbour. She loves to see what’s going on around her and her nose often pops up over the fence if she thinks there’s a possibility she might be missing out on something.

Java loves people and is very, very friendly and affectionate. She will jump up and down with excitement when she sees you coming to say hi, and nestle into you like a cat before planting herself in your lap and staying there for as long as she’s allowed. She enjoys a head massage, a belly rub and a bum scratch - whatever you’re dishing out, she’s happy to take it!

Although we know that Java is sociable with other dogs, we don’t think that she depends on their company or needs to live alongside a resident dog. She is a confident little girl and quite happy on her own, but she has shared her space with plenty of other dogs without any problems while she’s been in our care. Because she’s actually quite self assured, she provides a calming presence for more shy dogs, who just follow her around and do what she does.

Java would be a lovely addition for a family looking for an older dog to enjoy slower pace of life with. She’s good with children, but we think she would be more content in a home with slightly older kids who are a little more predictable. She’s such a character and has such a loving, cheeky and loyal nature, anyone would be so lucky to have her in their lives!
