About Pippin

Pippin was rescued two years ago after he and his friend turned up outside someone’s work. They spent a few days feeding the dogs before reaching out to ask for support, realising that they were clearly abandoned and not just local dogs wandering about the village. Thankfully, there was space at a local boarding kennels, and we were able to take Pippin under our wing.

Pippin is a special soul with the best ears, and we know that in a home environment he will absolutely shine. He is the kindest boy with a heart of gold, he gets along with all the other dogs he meets, and he greets everyone with a wagging tail. He is well behaved, eager to please, gentle natured and such a friendly, charming boy. Realistically, Pippin is the kind of temperament that most people look for in a new dog, but it’s just his health that has held him back from being adopted…

It was obvious looking at Pippin that he wasn’t in great health when we first collected him, and blood tests confirmed that he was positive for Leishmania. His eyes were sunken, he was very depressed, his ears were very sore and he was tired, underweight and sad. Thanks to the endlessly compassionate care given by the boarding kennels, slowly but surely Pippin’s health improved. He’s now miles happier and healthier, and you would have no idea he’s Leish positive. He’s in great shape, with a soft coat, lots of energy, a good appetite and bright eyes. His health can also be maintained with a good diet and daily medication - dogs with Leishmania can live very long and happy lives, and they pose no threat to other dogs or people.

Pippin’s Leishmania diagnosis doesn’t define him though. He is a wonderful boy with a family friendly nature and a positive attitude, and it’s such a shame that he’s yet to find his happy new beginning. He would love a relaxed home with a garden, a family who enjoy nice long walks, and he would be happiest in a semi-rural environment. He loves to follow his nose, sunbathe and hang out with other dogs, and he’s absolutely no bother at the kennels. In fact, he’s considered the best behaved dog there and they trust him with anyone - two legs or four!

Pippin would make the perfect companion and has so much love to give. Adopting a dog with a chronic health condition naturally comes with added responsibility, but of course we can educate and guide you through what this means. If you’re looking for a golden boy with the sweetest soul to be your new best friend, Pippin could be the one!
