About Rafa

Rafa, Elen, Anda and Mika were rescued from a busy roundabout in Cyprus where they had been abandoned. There were a few more puppies, but sadly by the time help came they had already very sadly been hit by cars and passed away. These four were the lucky survivors, and it took a while to convince them to safety, as they were so scared.

Thankfully, over the course of a couple of days, the four girls were rescued and taken to the safety of the local pound. It looks as though the pups are not all related, but they all get along really well and quite happily share a kennel together. They share food, snuggle at night, and love to play together out in the yard. They’re also great with other dogs.

Rafa and Elen are definitely related. They’re the two smaller puppies, and are likely terrier mixes. They’re very small and not expected to grow into very big dogs at all as adults. Rafa is a little more confident than Elen, who tends to linger behind the others until she’s definitely sure that it’s safe to approach.

Anda is more of a pointer mix. She’s very, very sweet and she took the longest to rescue as she was terrified to start with. Thankfully her confidence has really grown in recent weeks and she’s now very affectionate and friendly. And lastly, little Mika is perhaps a kokoni spaniel mix. She is quieter within the group, but she’s actually more confident and is always the first to greet new people and lead the way for the others. Her fur is so soft, and she loves a cuddle.

The puppies have had a traumatic start, so they need a gentle, patient introduction to life in the UK as a companion. They’ve never been inside a proper home before, so it will be a very new and overwhelming experience to begin with. Raising a puppy can be hard work, but it’s so worth it to see them grow, learn and thrive. Seeing them learn they’re safe and finally experiencing happiness and security is the best feeling in the world.

We’re looking for homes outside of the city for the puppies, with access to a secure garden and families prepared to put in the time and effort needed to raise a young dog. We are open to considering homes without other dogs, but we feel the pups would probably do best with a resident dog to learn from, as they have always known canine company and really benefit from the guidance of other dogs.

If you’d love to raise one of the girls and give them the home, love and snuggles they crave, please get in touch! Right now they are holed up in a public pound, and all we want is for them to experience the puppyhood they deserve.
