About Sam
Sam and Frodo came to the shelter after they were found wandering in a little pack. There were four of them in total, and it was very obvious that the boys were brothers right away. They are the cutest duo and both of them are more than ready to find their new homes.
Of the two, Sam is the slightly bigger brother. He is full of confidence and energy and loves meeting new people. He is extremely affectionate and it doesn’t take long at all for him to be rolling over for belly rubs and sprawled in your lap for snuggles. He is very loving and he would definitely welcome a home that could offer plenty of cuddles and affection. He also has a tendency to get his lips stuck on his teeth which makes him look like a little vampire dog now and again!
Sam is quick to learn new things and has already learned how to sit politely for a treat in the shelter, despite the environment being very busy and distracting. He loves his food and this will definitely work well as positive reinforcement for onward training.
At just over a year old, Sam will remain small in size and would be ideal for someone looking for a little dog that’s easy to handle. He has no issues being picked up when needed, and once he’s formed a strong bond with his new family we imagine that he will be really well behaved and eager to please.
Sam has no issues with other dogs and shares his kennel with his brother and a female dog at present. He shares his bed kindly, and loves snuggling up with them at night. He also knows to take turns when it comes to food, and he doesn’t show any signs of resource guarding or jealousy. We think he would be a great addition to a home with less experience of dogs, as he’s easygoing, sociable, confident and people oriented.
Sam’s ideal home would be with someone who was around frequently, as he wouldn’t enjoy being left alone for long periods of time. He can live with other resident dogs, but is also content in his own company, and he can also be rehomed alongside children. He can be quite full on with his affection to begin with, so he would be better off with kids who are confident around dogs and happy being licked and sat on!
This little guy has a whole lot of love to give and we know he’s going to bring so much joy into his new home.
