About Kabo
How gorgeous is Kabo? He arrived at the shelter along with two other pointers, all of whom were found roaming as strays at the end of the hunting season. The three of them are happy in each other’s company, and now they share a kennel together. As their individual personalities have emerged we’ve been getting to know them, and now we would love to find each of them their perfect forever home.
Kabo is around four years old and has no idea how beautiful he is. He’s sweet, soft and sensitive, and has a gentle, affectionate and curious nature. He can be a little apprehensive with new people, but he’s a sucker for treats so that really helps to earn his trust. Unfortunately, the hunting culture in Cyprus dictates the treatment of a lot of hounds, so we’re not sure that Kabo has ever truly experienced the love, security and compassion that he has deserved throughout the past few years.
Around other dogs, Kabo is great. He is friendly, very silly, playful but also provides gentle guidance to the younger dogs. He is good with both males and females, and we definitely think that he would really enjoy a home where he had another resident dog to learn from and play with. Without another dog, it may take longer for Kabo to settle in properly, but it wouldn’t be impossible as long as his family are prepared to give him the time and patience he needs.
Kabo would be best suited to a semi-rural home where he’s surrounded by lots of places to explore. Being a pointer, he loves to follow his nose and he’s always curious about his surroundings. He would also be best suited to a home with a garden, as it’s likely that he has spent the vast majority of his life living outdoors in some capacity. A garden will provide Kabo with a safe outdoor space where he can acclimatise to living indoors little by little.
Once settled, Kabo will be the perfect companion for an outdoorsy family who enjoy an active lifestyle, but also want a best friend who’ll be happy snuggling on the sofa. Pointers are fantastic cuddlers, and you won’t be able to get enough of Kabo’s velvet ears and soft muzzle. He will need a gentle introduction to his new lifestyle, but with reassurance and understanding, he will form a deep and devoted bond with his new family. Watching him grow into a confident boy will be so rewarding!
