About Sunny
Sunny is a new addition to the shelter, brought in around a month ago by the dog warden after she was found as a stray. Sunny is only around six months old and as her name suggests, she is a lovely little ray of sunshine!
Sunny is a cheeky, intelligent and active young dog who absolutely loves people. She is very keen to greet new people and rarely shows any apprehension around humans, even with those she’s not familiar with. She is a confident girl and has integrated into one of our larger groups in the shelter really well. She’s made lots of friends and she really gets on with dogs of a similar nature to her.
Sunny will be looking for a fairly active home with a family who enjoy spending time outdoors. She is clever and has picked up ‘sit’ really quickly despite all the distractions around her. In a home environment we imagine her training will come on in leaps and bounds, especially as she’s so eager to please and very food motivated.
Given that she’s a young dog, and has limited exposure around small children, we’re looking for a home with kids aged 7+, who are old enough to give Sunny space when she needs it, but also be a lovely friend to play with. She would probably be a bit too bouncy right now for younger children. Although she’s not been properly tested with cats, she does show some curiosity around them so would be better suited to a home with confident, dog-savvy cats.
Sunny loves to play and is a rough and tumble kind of puppy. She can sometimes be a little bit bossy with other dogs, especially if they’re more submissive, but she responds well to being told ‘no’ and redirection. She’d be quite happy as the only dog in the household as she likes lapping up any attention she can get, but if matched with the right resident dog she’d also make a great playmate for them.
All puppies need continued training and socialisation post adoption, and Sunny is no different. Given the time and focus she deserves, we’re confident that she is going to blossom into an adaptable, sociable and loyal companion.
